Twenty-five middle school math and science teachers from all parts of Texas began their coursework in the Greater Texas Foundation-funded Middle School Math and Science: Understanding by Design master’s hybrid program at Texas Tech University. Using their Sony laptop computers and the Second Life and Cmap programs the Avatars are busy in the online course. Cohort One began their first online course, “Science Curriculum and Instruction in Education” taught by Rebecca Ortiz, PhD, and Shirley Matteson, PhD in the fall 2009 semester.
In the spring 2010 semester, students enrolled in the online course “The Nature of Science for Teachers in Interdisciplinary Studies”, taught by Jeff Lee, PhD.
The first summer session (June 7-25, 2010) at Texas Tech’s Lubbock campus will cover “Advanced Math and Statistics for Teachers I” taught by Brock Williams, PhD, and “Conceptual Physics for Teachers in Physics” taught by David Lamp, PhD. - (MS)2 Team |
